Centre for Preclinical Imaging
The Safety Hub received a substantial award from UKRMP to help develop a Centre for Preclinical Imaging at University of Liverpool to support the work of the Hub; along with our partners’ established imaging facilities at UCL and Manchester University this significantly enhances our in vivo imaging capabilities, thereby creating unprecedented opportunities to visualise administered stem cells, track their fate and ‘see’ the effects they have on host tissues and organs.
The Centre aims to provide the expertise and infrastructure for non-invasive imaging in pre-clinical models to the research community at the University of Liverpool and its academic and industrial partners in the vicinity.
The technologies available for pre-clinical imaging currently include high-field magnetic resonance imaging (9.4T MRI), bioluminescence, photoacoustic imaging (MSOT) and ultrasound.
